Your body weight is just one number. The scale can't tell you how much is muscle and how much is fat. An InBody 270 scan separates muscle from fat from water, so you can see what is actually changing.
Two people can weigh exactly the same and have completely different bodies. Someone losing weight can be losing muscle rather than fat — which feels like progress on the scales and is the opposite of what they wanted. A scan removes the guesswork.
The scan itself takes about 30 seconds. You stand on the device holding two handles, fully clothed, with no radiation and nothing invasive. What matters is what happens next: a dietitian sits down with your results and explains what they mean for you. This is where Live Better Nutrition is different. We have highly trained dietitians performing the body scan, not simply a body scanning technician or an admin person.
Why the InBody 270
The InBody 270 uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) through an eight-point tactile electrode system — two electrodes under each hand and foot — to measure your body segment by segment rather than as a single average. The InBody 270 uses the same technology as in the InBody devices found in hospitals, university research labs and elite sport institutes, scaled into a device suited to a dietitian's consult room.
Two things set it apart from bathroom-scale "body fat" readings and gym-kiosk scanners. First, it does not use population averages, age or gender to estimate your result the way many cheaper devices do — it measures the impedance of your actual arms, legs and trunk directly. Second, it prints a full, numbered results sheet on the spot, so nothing is locked in an app only we can see — it is yours to keep and compare over time.
No estimation shortcuts
Measures each limb and your trunk directly, rather than inferring results from population averages.
Clinical-grade, not gym-kiosk
The same measurement approach used in hospitals and research settings, in a fast in-clinic scan.
A result you keep
A printed, numbered sheet at the end of every scan — easy to compare scan to scan.

What the scan measures
You leave with a printed results sheet and a dietitian’s interpretation of it.
Skeletal muscle mass
How much muscle you are carrying, and whether it is going up or down over time. The single most useful number for most people.
Body fat mass & percentage
Fat measured directly rather than inferred from BMI, which cannot tell muscle and fat apart.
Segmental lean analysis
Muscle distribution across each arm, each leg and your trunk — useful after injury or where there is an imbalance.
Total body water
Intracellular and extracellular water, including the balance between them.
Visceral fat level
Fat around your organs. The most important measure for long term health.
Basal metabolic rate
Useful for determining an energy budget.

Who finds a scan useful
Anyone losing weight
Confirming that what you are losing is fat, not the muscle you want to keep.
People on GLP-1 medications
Muscle loss is a genuine risk on Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro. Scanning catches it early enough to act.
Athletes and gym-goers
Tracking whether a training block actually built what it was supposed to build.
Older adults
Muscle mass predicts mobility, independence and fall risk far better than weight does.
Chronic condition management
Body composition informs how we set nutrition targets for diabetes and cardiovascular risk.
Anyone who has plateaued
When the scales stop moving, a scan usually explains why.
